New IT Strategies International Corp. Recruiter | |||||||||

(Las Vegas) Nina Rasmussen has a quest. A quest to bring technology experts to the Las Vegas Valley and a quest to keep them there. As the new Technical Recruiter for IT Strategies International, a Las Vegas-based global computer consulting firm, Rasmussen is finding a cutting edge way of improving the local technology sector. “In Las Vegas, it is very unusual to hire someone as a technical recruiter,” Rasmussen says. “It’s a unique job that mostly prevails in the Silicon Valley and other cities where the high-tech and technology consulting industries continue to boom. In Las Vegas, it is just starting to catch on, and I’m pleased to fill a niche as the industry grows." As Technical Recruiter for IT Strategies, Rasmussen is responsible for conducting national searches and recruiting information technology experts to the firm. IT Strategies then “outsources” the consultants to a wide range of positions in corporations and government agencies in Nevada. The firm’s consultants handle information technology work in such places as the Las Vegas Valley Water District, the City of Henderson and Clark County. “Locally, it is difficult to find talent in the IT field because many professionals seek positions elsewhere because of the stigma Las Vegas has as a gambling town,” says IT Strategies Executive Vice President Mike Marriott. “But once they learn about the cost of living, the growth of the city and the good weather, they are more apt to look at Las Vegas in a different light.” Rasmussen uses a variety of methods while searching nationally, including finding possible candidates via the Internet and through networking. Once located, she informs them of the positions available, conducts background checks and then sells them on living and working in Las Vegas. Prior to joining IT Strategies, Rasmussen served as Technical Recruiting Manager for Analysts International in Las Vegas. While there, she recruited technical experts, trained other recruiters and created operations procedures for the recruiting department. She also held the position of Regional Recruiting Manager for Computer Task Group, based out of Buffalo, New York. In this capacity, she was responsible for 30 recruitment offices west of the Mississippi. She trained recruiters, wrote the corporate recruiter training manual and handled branch management problem resolution. Originally from Omaha, Neb., Rasmussen moved to southwest Las Vegas four years ago. She earned an associates degree in Information Services from the Metropolitan Technical Community College in Omaha. IT Strategies International is a privately held global computer consulting firm incorporated in the State of Nevada in 1996 and headquartered in Las Vegas.
