Henderson resident Kathleen Kidner, who joined the IT Strategies team as a senior consultant this month, has been named director of the new division. She is a veteran information technology executive with more than 20 years experience, including serving in IT positions at The Venetian and Bally’s. In her new position, Kidner is responsible for providing business and technical expertise to clients in the gaming/resort industry. She will also work with IT Strategies’ marketing department to develop accounts and maintain client relationships in the gaming industry. “We are thrilled to have someone with Kathy’s experience and knowledge in the hospitality IT area join our team,” said IT Strategies Executive Vice President Mike Marriott. “Our current and future clients in the resort and casino industry will benefit greatly from her expertise.” Prior to joining IT Strategies, Kidner served as special projects manager for The Venetian Hotel and Casino, where she created and implemented casino system enhancements. She also served as the Director of MIS for Trump Indiana, where she replaced and upgraded the computer systems in the casino for Y2K compliance and set up all the computer systems for a new hotel attached to the casino. In addition, Kidner served as Director of MIS for Bally’s Las Vegas from 1986 to 1997. While at Bally’s, she replaced and upgraded all the computer systems and handled day-to-day managerial duties. She also was employed in the IT departments of Software 2000, Inc., Hotel Del Coronado, Sands Hotel & Casino, Riviera Hotel & Casino and the Aladdin Hotel & Casino. “There was little to no automation in the casino industry when I moved here more than 20 years ago,” said Kidner. “I saw it as a golden opportunity to automate them.” According to Kidner, hiring outside consultants is a solid solution for computer projects that the casino and hotels do not have staffing for. The consultants help clients to match their business goals with information technology strategies. Kidner earned an associate’s degree in Computer Science from San Antonio College in California. She also attended many continuing education classes and conferences in the information technology field. She is affiliated with the Association of Information Technology Professionals (previously Data Processing Managers Association), where she has served as president of the Las Vegas Chapter, regional president, and member of the board of directors for the national organization. Kidner is also a member of the International Association of Hospitality Accountants and was an adult education instructor of data processing.
