Local Computer Consulting Company Offers Advice
to UNLV Graduates Seeking Jobs

(Las Vegas) – At a time when the job market is tight, a growing number of Southern Nevada businesses are coming forward to assist students ready to graduate from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Businesses are supporting UNLV seniors by sponsoring luncheons, making presentations and offering advice to student groups, and offering internships.

One such business, Las Vegas-based IT Strategies International Corp., an information technology consulting company, recently visited a UNLV MIS Department classroom. Verner Dixon, Jr., vice president of sales and marketing for IT Strategies, discussed resume development and the current job market with UNLV seniors.

“With the current job market in a slump, these graduating seniors need to be able to think outside the box when it comes to job hunting,” Dixon said. “They should consider starting out in departments other than MIS to develop a history with the company of their choice, or handle MIS projects for non-profit organizations to gain experience and be able to showcase their skills."

Also presenting was Roberta Weller, founder of the executive recruiting company Roberta Weller & Associates. Weller discussed the fine points of an executive resume with the class.
